Our boutique software company was approached by a charity that supports partially sighted and blind children to develop a web application that connects these students with music teachers who offer private tuition. The goal of the project was to create a simple, easy-to-use directory that allows students or their parents to search for and contact qualified music teachers in their area.
The main challenge faced by our team was building the application using PHP, as specified by the client. Additionally, we needed to ensure that the directory was accessible and usable for partially sighted and blind users, which required careful consideration of accessibility features such as screen reader compatibility and high contrast mode.
To address these challenges, our team developed a bespoke web application using PHP, with a focus on simplicity, usability, and accessibility. We implemented a user-friendly search function that allows students or their parents to find music teachers by location, instrument, or teaching style. We also included features such as teacher profiles, contact forms, and a secure messaging system to facilitate communication between students and teachers.

The Music Teacher Directory was successfully launched and has been well-received by the charity and its users. The directory currently lists over 50 music teachers across the country, and has facilitated numerous connections between students and teachers.
The Music Teacher Directory has made a significant impact on the lives of partially sighted and blind children, providing them with access to music education and enrichment opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach. The directory has also supported the charity''s mission to promote inclusivity and accessibility in music education.
